The water is a lovely, clear blue. It is exactly the right temperature. As you stretch, you find that your clothes have vanished. You frown, about to bring back your clothing, when the thought of how absurd you would look swimming in soaked clothes. The water feels good, and no one will see you, anyway. Perhaps you hesitate, questioning that comfortable reasoning, but then you notice the tiles that line this moat.
They are handpainted tiles from Italy, and they picture a great many sea serpents, mermaids, boats and sailors. You swim under the water to study the tiles more closely. Suddenly, you recognize a picture of Circe and Odysseus. Circe looks up at you and says, " Remember, I let him go. With the dawn he sails away, to be gone forevermore." She is crying slightly. You glance away, uncomfortable and uncertain of how to comfort her. When you look back, the tile looks merely painted.
This makes you slightly nervous. You can continue to explore the moat, or you can leave the moat for the road to the south or climb onto the drawbridge .
to go to the workroom.
