"Pete's First Day of School"
by William McDaniel
The time had come for Pete to go to school
His dad was ready to give him a speech
Pete felt that leaving then would be quite cool
But he was forced to hear his father preach
His dad told him just what they were expecting
They'd kill him if he did not do all right
Because of all these threats Pete was collecting
He knew that with his dad he'd have to fight
At first, Pete was not overly excited,
But he figured he might give the school a try
Because of the threats his parents had provided
Pete knew that to them he would have to lie
'Twas a shame, Pete did not learn much all that fall
He skipped each day and hung out at the mall
