"Pete Falls in Love"
by William McDaniel

There was a girl whom Pete liked very much
He knew not how to tell her how he felt
For Pete was not skilled at romance and such
But when he saw her, she made his heart melt.

Pete thought he'd ask his father what to do
"Dad, I have a problem,"; this he said.
"Pete," Dad said, "this better not be true!"
"Or I'll bash in your swollen, ugly head."

Pete ran upstairs to listen to Joe Cocker
His hopes of getting the girl began to taper
He'd write a note and leave it in her locker!
Pete wrote a love poem on a piece of paper.

'Twas a shame, Pete's poem did not make her unto him dash,
Whilst no one looked, he threw it in the trash
