Hello, I am Bassel El Mabsout, a computer science PHD student at BU. I am interested in both the theoretical and the practical, from category theory to bit manipulations!

Currently, I am specializing in programming languages, machine learning and robotics. My goal is to contribute to these fields by cross-pollinating ideas from the others. I am currently working with Renato Mancuso (my advisor), Kate Saenko and Siddharth Mysore on achieving good attitude control on quadcopters by training neural networks with reinforcement learning. I am also working with Dany Fu and Justin Vrana on automatically generating plans to form samples for use in the yeast gates project.

I maintain a haskell blog at bmabsout.github.io, and my resume can be found at bmabsout.github.io/resume
