Glitchwolf

The Glitchwolf Homepage

What is Glitchwolf?

Glitchwolf is a project I've worked on on-and-off (mostly off) over the past several years to make an OpenGL-enabled port of the original Wolfenstein 3-D. It's finally to the point where it's mostly usable, so I figured I should post it somewhere in case anyone wanted to use it. Right now all that's here is Windows binaries, but I'll also post a UNIX version with source code... well... someday.

Download

You can download the current version (0.9.0) here. It comes with the shareware data files (i.e. the first episode of the game), but if you happen to own (or purchase) the full version, you can play that as well by copying all of the .WL6 files into the Glitchwolf directory.

Features

Glitchwolf aims to be as faithful as possible to the original game, except for the higher resolution/smoothed textures, and the fact that it works on a modern PC (I haven't been able to get the original to work with music for longer than Glitchwolf has existed, and that's saying something). Other than that, the only real "feature" added is the option to highlight all secrets in bright red (select the "Cheaty McCheaterson" option in the opening window).

Feedback

Please, send me feedback! This is very much beta software, so if you find a bug, write me at dcharlton@gmail.com so I can fix it. Right now, the only known bug is that the end-of-game sequences aren't finished for episodes 2-6 (because I haven't gotten to writing them yet, and good lord, it's been six years, I have to release something). But everything else should be fully playable.
