Experimenting with OpenCV

Original Greyscale Blurred Binary

How does it work?

The Greyscale image was created from the Original image by assigning to each pixel the average value of its BGR components.

The Blurred image was created from the Greyscale one by going through each pixel and assigning to it the average value of itself and its eight neighbors.

The Binary image aimed at creating an image in which only my face was white. To do so I first chose a skin color value from my face and I calculated a range for the BGR components of such skin color. Then in the Original image all the pixels with a color in the range of the skin color have been turned white while the others black. The result is far from perfect but most of my face is represented as white.
