Quiz 1 Information and Review Problems

Quiz 1 will focus on the material that we have covered in lecture up to and including the notes on methods with parameters and return values. In the textbook, this corresponds to chapter 1, chapter 2, and sections 3.1 and 3.2 of chapter 3.

You will have the full 50 minutes of class for the quiz. You may use one 3-inch by 5-inch index card of handwritten notes (both sides).

You should be sure to review all of the relevant material, including problem sets 1-3.

The following Self-Check Problems from the textbook are good review problems for the quiz; the answers are in Appendix A at the back of the book.

Chapter 1 (pp. 42-47): 2, 3, 7, 11, 13, 16

Chapter 2 (pp. 106-111): 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, 19, 22, 24, 27

Chapter 3 (pp. 165-170): 1, 3, 5, 7, 9

If you get a problem wrong, try to figure out what you did wrong (asking for help as needed), and then see if there's another similar problem that you can try. For example, question 2 from Chapter 3 is similar to question 1.
