Hi! I'm Fatih Cakir (Çakır). I'm a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Boston University. I'm a member of the Image and Video Computing Group with Professor Stan Sclaroff as my advisor. My research interests are in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning. Specifically, I am keen on the object detection/tracking/recognition problems and related statistical learning techniques.

I obtained my BS and MS from the EE department of Anadolu University in 2009 and the CE department of Bilkent University in 2011, respectively.

In my spare time I like reading books and watching films. My favourite books are The Brothers Karamazov, Crime and Punishment, Wuthering Heights, Ince Memed, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Wheel of Time and The Lord of The Rings. Other than literature classics, I also enjoy reading related books about my research interests. I have an investigator side that always makes me spend time in a library looking up for facts that regard anything of my interest. I also like watching films, specifically indie and eastern movies. My favourite ones are; A Bittersweet Life, A Tale of Two Sisters (by Ji-woon Kim), American History X, Hero, My Sassy Girl (by Jae-young Kwak), The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Snatch, V for Vendetta, Vampire Hunter D and The Last Samurai.
