I'm a Senior Deep Learning Engineer at Samsung Electronics. I was previously a member of the Modeling team at FirstFuel and before that a member of the Image and Video Computing Group with Professor Stan Sclaroff as my advisor. My research interests are in the fields of Machine Learning and Computer Vision. Specifically, I am keen on metric learning, visual recognition tasks and developing statistical learning and numerical optimization techniques to solve such problems. A bulk of my publications are about learning data embeddings for information retrieval and (fast) nearest neighbor search purposes.

I obtained my PhD from the CS department at Boston University in 2017.

Personal

In my spare time I like reading books and watching films. My favourite books are The Brothers Karamazov, Crime and Punishment, Wuthering Heights, Ince Memed, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Wheel of Time and The Lord of The Rings. Other than literature classics, I also enjoy reading related books about my research interests. I have an investigator side that always makes me spend time in a library looking up for facts that regard anything of my interest. I also like watching films, specifically indie and eastern movies. My favourite ones are; A Bittersweet Life, A Tale of Two Sisters (by Ji-woon Kim), American History X, Hero, My Sassy Girl (by Jae-young Kwak), The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Snatch, V for Vendetta, Vampire Hunter D and The Last Samurai.
