"All things being equal, the simplest solution is the best."
- Occam's razor
This is the web-presence of Gabriel Parmer. I am a minimalist and
my web-page reflects it. Please feel free to view the links
above.
I am in the Doctoral program at Boston University in
Computer
Science. My advisor is Professor Richard
West.
Research Interests: My
research interests involve the composability and structuring of
application-specific system services. Intrinsic in this study are
issues of system-extensibility, modularity, and specification.
The system should allow a fine-grained component based system to be
constructed where the composition of the system itself might be
quite different for each application, while concurrently ensuring
isolation both of applications from each other, and of the system
from the applications. Further, I am quite interested in using
advanced application interposition to "hijack" certain system
behaviors to provide customizable execution environments for
demanding applications.
Recreational: I am an avid dancer, preferring Lindy-Hop, Blues and, most recently, Argentine
Tango. I also have a deep and pervasive interest in
philosophical issues, especially those concerning Morality and
Ethics. I enjoy cycling, weather permitting, and running. I just
completed the 2008 boston marathon in 3 hours 20 minutes and after
telling myself I would only run one marathon, I might just have
been bitten by the bug.
