Short Bio

Hi, I am Cecelia Dixon and I am currently a senior studying Graphic Design and Art History at Boston University. While I hope to eventually work at large museum like the Tate Modern, I am currently working with several small art galleries/experiences. I do the promotional material and web design for these (don't judge the state of this page, I'm just following the instructions haha). In art history, my research surrounds the impacts of texhnology and the internet on contemporary art, hence the reason I am taking CS classes.

I was born in Orlando, Florida and I love my hometown. I am unfortunately an Orlando Magic fan.

Pottery

My Sophomore year at BU I took a ceramics class and instantly fell in love with both hand-building with clay and throwing clay. A piece that I made even got selected by President Brown and Dr. Beverly Brown to be displayed in their home. I currently work in a studio in Somerville called Mudflat Pottery, I have studio space that I get to use twice a week.

Tennis

When I get the free time, I like to go to the park to play tennis. I have been playing since I was in high school. In the Summer I take lessons at Amory Tennis Center. I originally learned to play with my Dad, but now use it as a great way to get exercise and play with my friends.

Art Direction

I am currently the Senior Art Director for BU's Off The Cuff Magazine, and also my own zine that I am currently self-publishing. I manage a team of ten designers to make a print issue of the magazine every semester. I hope to continue working with print publications in the future because I truly love it and never want print to fully die out.

Graphic Design

Although graphic design is my major, it is also one of my favorite hobbies. I know many Adobe softwares and have been doing design since high school. My favorite design involves mockups of my favorite past exhibitions. The photo here is for the Orlando Museum of Art's Florida Prize Exhibition. You can see more on my website
