Lasagna
Lasagna is one of my favorite foods as it gives me comfort. Even though it seems to be a lot of work in first sight, it is actually not that hard to prepare.
Ingredients
For the Meat Layer
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 can of tomato sauce
- 1 can of tomato paste
- 1 tsp of sugar
- spices (salt, pepper, oregano, basil)
For the Cheese Layer
- 15 oz Ricotta Cheese
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan
- freshly chopped parsley
Preparation
Prepare the Meat Sauce
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Add the onions and garlic (any other vegetables of your liking), and cook until they are softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and add some water.
- Add your spices and simmer uncovered for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assembly & Baking
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, and parsley until well combined.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Place 3-4 cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, and spread the cheese mixture until the noodles are covered.
- Sprinkle some mozzarella over the cheese mixture.
- Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
