Lasagna

Lasagna is one of my favorite foods as it gives me comfort. Even though it seems to be a lot of work in first sight, it is actually not that hard to prepare.

Preparation

Prepare the Meat Sauce

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  2. Add the onions and garlic (any other vegetables of your liking), and cook until they are softened.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and add some water.
  4. Add your spices and simmer uncovered for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly & Baking

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, and parsley until well combined.
  3. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  4. Place 3-4 cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, and spread the cheese mixture until the noodles are covered.
  5. Sprinkle some mozzarella over the cheese mixture.
  6. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
