I am a first year PhD student at Boston University. In Spring 2020, I finished my Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering from The American University in Cairo. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on a variety of projects including projects related to decentralized systems, computer vision, natural language processing. I have also interned in Microsoft and EPFL.
I am working in Boston University under supervision of Vasiliki (Vasia) Kalavri with whom I am working on research related to building efficient Multi-Party Computation system within the Complex Analytics and Scalable Processing Systems Lab (CASP).
Currently, my research interests include Distributed and Decentralized Systems, Multi-Party Computations (MPC), and Security and Privacy. Moreover, I have also interests in AI, particularly computer vision and Natural Language Processing.
If I were to describe my two most important goals from my career, they would be the following:
I believe that technology will be the new leader and protector of the peoples because of fairness, security, privacy and many other good and moral qualities that can be shipped with technological solutions. The coming years would really present great things to us. Therefore, I am enthusiastic about working with projects related to these ideas.
I believe that the first big human step towards civilization was inventing writing because it has allowed humans to pass knowledge through time to their descendants. The amount of knowledge that has been shared through different generations is just significant. For this same reason, I believe that the second big human step towards civilization is to use AI and natural language processing to connect all humans all over the world in the same generation together. One big intelligence that speaks in many cultures and ideologies and answers our questions based on its vast knowledge from many humans living in other parts of the world or lived ages ago.
While, we are in special time that requires social distancing, I would still love to chat with you. Send me an email and let’s arrange for a zoom meeting.
