Hades

Covered by Monet

Synopsis

Hades is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you defy the god of the dead as you hack and slash your way out of the Underworld of Greek myth. We think it combines the best aspects of our previous games, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre. It’s never the same experience twice: Each time you play, you'll combine the divine might of various Olympian gods with your own in new ways, brave a wide variety of different challenges, and unravel more of the story featuring our award-winning art, audio, and narrative. You may play for not just dozens of hours, but hundreds of hours, while still discovering new character builds and story events.

What I Like About This Game

I like how every death you have in this game, it allows you to modify your loadout and utilize your deaths to advance the story along. For instance I died on the third stage but my death has allowed me to start a certain chain of events to connect two side characters to help me complete a task or call them in for assist in battle.

How is it differ from
other dungeon crawlers?

  1. Every death is used to progress the story along
  2. Allows the player to have a break midway through a run
  3. Doesn't utilize the typical dungeon crawler movement sets

Why I Chose To Talk About It

During lockdown, I was going through a very rough time with family problems and dealing with health issues. This game was sort of my comfort game during this time period. Not only did it allow me to get my mind off things but in a way get my life on track again.
